We have had plenty of experience with article marketing, and believe it or not, it can still add a lot of benefit to a solid SEO campaign. My first impression was the site looks professional and clean, with an attractive look and feel. It is easy to read and understand. Joining the site was easy and painless–they do offer 2 upgrade options but they are not required to gain the benefits.
The Members Area is very well laid out and intuitive–I could figure out what to do after only a few minutes and was able to get up and running in less than 5 minutes. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is comprised of two main areas, on-page factors and off-page factors. Search engine spiders look at a number of variously weighted objects such as the page title, meta keywords & meta description, URL/link text, header tags, alt tags, keyword density within body content, relevancy, uniqueness, accuracy & placement of the content, along with a number of other lightly weighted factors.
Each page of your website is ranked separately by Google and various other search engine algorithms; therefore, each page should have it’s own set of 3-5 target key phrases and unique SEO focus area. The focus areas for each of your second and third level pages are critical to the ranking of your site in all the major engines. Each focus area of your site should have a bucket of keywords that will be both A) obtainable with reasonable link building efforts and B) analyzed to select the 3-5 highest yielding phrases. But how do you do the research necessary to figure all this out? Let’s say you have a 100 page website setup and optimized for 3 target key phrases on each page, that would be a total of 300 key phrases that you’ll now need to do sufficient link building for. Depending on the competition analysis you have against each key phrase on each page, you will know exactly what # of incoming links should be “sufficient” for getting your site in the top 10 of Google results and eventually work your way into the #1 position. The off-site link building can be done by trading links with relative blogs and forums, by purchasing ads or submitting your sites to relative, category specific directories for inclusion. Here are a list of some ways you can get the links:
- Research & identify the most relative and best ranked blogs and forums that allow do-follow links and manually post an informative, legitimate comment including the target key phrase as a hyperlink within the post. This must be well thought out or you will just get flagged for spam. There are also a variety of .GOV and .EDU sites where you can post and get incredibly quality authority links – but the strategy/approach must be on point.
- Identify the most relevant and top rated directories to add links to various pages on your website. For example, if you have an “automotive” category on your site, there are over 5000 directories where you could post a link directly to that page. Same goes for any other key phrase – don’t send all the links to your home page, spread the link juice evenly where it’s needed most, and always remember to make sure the link text uses your target key phrases (one at a time).
- Integrate the JetSpinner syntax with your blog posts/cms to automatically spin and distribute press releases and SEO articles. Some sites you will want to post your articles are HubPages.com and Squidoo.com. You can focus on one to three key phrases per article and link them all to their respective pages at your site.
- Submit your blog posts to relevant blog carnivals. You can submit two a week for the first 90 days and then you can start doing one a day with great results.
- Buy ad space (banner or preferably text) on relative, credible websites. You can use a service such as Text-Link-Ads.com to find and purchase the links or you can simply email the webmasters of sites you’ve identified in Web CEO or IBP11 and manage your purchased ads campaign on your own.
- Submit any product feeds to any available/relative shopping comparison channels.
- Submit Sitemap XML/RSS to Google Webmaster Services.
- Get listed on DMOZ.
There are other methods of finding the links you need but we have had great success with the ones listed above. Remember to ping your links and make sure they are getting crawled so none of your efforts go to waste. I’ve read a lot of good and bad about blog comment posting. I was skeptical at first because I would never want to get a site sandboxed. Blog Comment Demon basically allows you to harvest a list of targeted blogs and outlines the page rank of each blog so you can hand-select which sites you post to. It then allows you to either “spin and automatically post” or hand write each blog post. I personally like to hand write all posts to make sure they are on-point and relative to the blog topic. I’ve found that fully automating the posts is a bad idea because you will get marked as spam and your posts will never go live. Blog Comment Demon is a backlink machine!!!
